A little bit about me

I am an English Literature major with a computer habit. Ever since I was a kid, reading and computers were two of my favorite pastimes. In college I was very interested in education and academia and I began down the path to a philosophy degree. I soon realized that literature was philosophy with a plot and promptly changed paths.

After college I took my interests in computers and education and began a career in software education. Specifically web design with, then Macromedia, Dreamweaver and Flash. Through various twists this led me to my present path of digital prepress and print design.

My current role involves myriad skills from web development and theme editing to preflight and preparing files for print. I assist customers in all aspects of the print process with advice and consultation regarding paper choice, design and file prep for best results.

In addition I manage several customer web2print portals and maintain the team’s computers and network.

Here I Managed large format print projects from arrival through preflight, production, finishing and delivery. I was responsible for file preparation as well as operation of 5 large format printers including high resolution photo printers to a nine-foot direct print UV press.

I developed and maintained a proprietary poster shopping cart website from the ground up utilizing ColdFusion and a Microsoft Access database. The site included a catalog of poster templates registered users could select and upload their custom content. I maintained and added templates to the catalog on a regular basis as well as placing customer supplied content into the templates for production as posters.

Digital Prepress, Design, and Film Preparation Dec. 2002 – Aug. 2007

In this role at Linographics, Inc. I managed film production from client supplied art files and produced art as needed upon request from clients.

Software Training Sept. 2000 – Nov. 2006

I provided software training in Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Quark Xpress, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
